EWIA welcomes the opportunity to contribute to BEREC’s discussion on infrastructure sharing and environmental sustainability. The TowerCo model plays a key role in enabling efficient passive infrastructure sharing, bringing significant sustainability and economic benefits, as highlighted in recent EY-Parthenon studies. EWIA supports BEREC’s commitment to considering the environmental impact in future policies and remains available to provide further insights.

Response to the White Paper “How to master Europe’s digital infrastructure needs?”

EWIA’s response to the White Paper stressed that:

– Independent TowerCos are significant contributors to the massive investment needs highlighted by the White paper to reach the 2030 Digital Decade wireless connectivity targets.
– The independent TowerCo model provides concrete answers to many challenges highlighted in the White Paper.
– While Europe is on the right track, the EU regulatory framework should leverage and support the neutral and sharing-driven nature of the independent TowerCo model to reach the objectives of the White Paper.
